What are the steps of in vitro fertilization?

Many people think that IVF is a baby grown in a test tube, but it is not. The full name of IVF is in vitro fertilization – embryo transfer, which simply means that the eggs and sperm are cultured in vitro and then transferred back to the uterus after the stage of embryo. The specific steps are as follows: 1. Indications for IVF: IVF, an assisted reproductive technology, is aimed at infertile couples. Infertility is a condition in which a couple has normal sex without any contraceptive measures and has not been pregnant for more than 1 year without contraception. Infertility factors need to be considered from both female and male side. Female infertility may be caused by tubal factors (obstruction, hydrocele, incompetence, etc.), endometriosis, ovulation disorder, repeated ovulation failure, history of AIH failure, etc. The male partner may have severe oligospermia, obstructive azoospermia, deformed sperm, sexual dysfunction, etc. Therefore, whether you have the indications for IVF and what the specific reasons are, you need to consult our fertility center before you can be diagnosed. 2.Prepare documents: both couples need to prepare ID card and marriage certificate. 3.Improve preoperative laboratory tests for both partners: Both partners need to complete the preoperative laboratory tests for IVF. If there is any abnormality in the laboratory, the doctor will give targeted pre-treatment according to the specific problem. 4.Build IVF medical records: Both couples should bring all documents and all labs to the fertility center to build medical records during working days. 5.Programming and IVF cycle: The doctor will make the most suitable ovulation promotion program according to the specific situation of both couples. After entering the cycle, the doctor will inform the woman of the follow-up time according to the speed of follicle development and hormonal changes. 6. Egg retrieval and transplantation: Once the follicles have developed to maturity, the female partner can schedule egg retrieval and male partner sperm retrieval. In our fertility center, egg retrieval is done under anesthesia, so the patient will not experience much pain. Sperm retrieval for the male partner is done by masturbation. If you have any difficulty in retrieving sperm, you need to inform your doctor in advance. The female partner needs to hold her urine to facilitate ultrasound monitoring. After the transplantation, pay attention to rest, sleep and a balanced diet. A pregnancy test can be performed 14 days after the transplantation. These are the general steps of IVF in our fertility center, the specific implementation needs to be informed by the doctor after the couple’s visit.
