In the communities where we live, convenience pharmacies can be found everywhere, but when faced with the many medicines for laryngitis in the medicine cabinet, many people are confused: the names of the medicines vary widely, the dosage forms are diverse, and the pharmacists’ recommendations are often very different. How to choose the right medicine for laryngitis? The throat is the connecting channel between the natural environment and the human body. Whenever the seasons change, especially in autumn and winter, the dry and cold air often directly stimulates the mucous membrane of the throat, causing local and even general discomfort. Laryngitis is often divided into two categories: acute and chronic. The patient in the self-medication, according to the different course of the disease, the correct choice of Chinese and Western drugs, in order to achieve good results. 1, acute pharyngitis: acute pharyngitis is the external environment of harmful substances, such as harmful chemical gases and pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses and other aggression, resulting in a strong inflammatory response, local redness, swelling, heat, pain, accompanied by fever, headache, loss of appetite, limb aches and other systemic symptoms. Medication countermeasures: For acute pharyngitis, doctors tend to use anti-inflammatory drugs. Western class antibiotics are often taken orally or systemically intravenously to control the spread of inflammation; Chinese (adult) anti-inflammatory sprays are often applied topically, such as Golden Throat Health, Tin Class San, etc.; mouthwash, such as Koutai, etc., to control the local pain and swelling of the throat. Generally after 5 to 7 days, the disease will all appear to improve. Note: Among the acute inflammatory diseases, acute epiglottitis, acute peri-tonsillitis, pharyngeal side infection and other acute diseases often cause different degrees of swallowing and breathing difficulties, which can cause life-threatening asphyxia in serious cases. Therefore, patients should not take it lightly, should be timely to the hospital to receive regular treatment. 2, chronic laryngitis: chronic laryngitis can be a regression of acute laryngitis disease, but most patients do not have the above-mentioned acute phase of performance, often have a dry, itchy, swollen, painful pharynx, secretions, foreign body feeling is obvious, coughing, swallowing and other manifestations, often in patients talking too much, physical fatigue, mood swings, eating spicy irritating food or weather changes aggravated. The patient should not use antibiotics because of the word “inflammation”, but should actively deal with the symptoms. For example, daily warmth of the throat, avoid excessive strain, quit smoking and alcohol, maintain a stable mood, and appropriate use of Chinese medicine symptomatic treatment. It should be noted that for different patients’ disease characteristics, traditional Chinese medicine needs to be treated with evidence and the right medicine to achieve good results. In general, mild chronic pharyngitis only requires local treatment, and can be treated by gargling with mouthwash or 1:5000 furacilin solution, orally with Huasu tablets or lysozyme tablets or compound diquat chloride tablets five to six times a day. In Chinese medicine, chronic pharyngitis is called “slow laryngeal paralysis”. For those with deficiency of lung yin (dry and itchy throat, pain, coughing and coughing up phlegm easily), use Nourishing Yin Qing Lung Paste or Tie Di Wan for internal use; for those with deficiency of kidney yin (burning sensation in the throat, dryness, lymphatic follicle hyperplasia in the mucous membrane of the throat, combined with generalized hot flushes and night sweats, irritable heat in the five hearts), use Liu Wei Di Huang Wan or Clear Throat Pill, taken internally. Note: Long-term throat discomfort, such as foreign body sensation in the throat, may also be caused by some diseases, lifestyle habits or physiological changes, such as snoring, excessive tobacco and alcohol stimulation, physiological dryness of the throat in the elderly, and psychological factors in menopausal women. In this regard, patients should have a correct understanding and treat the cause. Can I use “fat sea” for a long time to treat chronic laryngitis? Many people believe that taking Chinese medicine is safe. Therefore, some people for the prevention and treatment of chronic laryngitis, long-term use of “fat sea” to drink water, thinking that you can achieve the purpose of “disease cure, no disease prevention”. In fact, the physical spleen and stomach cold patients, as well as external wind and cold caused by cough, sore throat patients, or lung Yin deficiency caused by dry cough, hoarse voice patients, are not suitable for the use of fat sea. Research also proved that the long-term use of fat sea will bring certain side effects, which is detrimental to health.
