The Body Pillar point is in the depression below the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra. It is an acupoint of the Directing Vessel. The Body Pillar point is located on the posterior midline, horizontal to the depression below the third thoracic vertebra. The body markings that can be referred to when locating the point are the scapular ridge. When the body is upright and the hands are naturally hanging down, the intersection of the medial line of the two scapulae and the posterior midline is the spinous process of the third lumbar vertebra. Feeling down the spinous process, the depression is the Body Pillar Point. The Body Pillar point can be used to treat exogenous diseases such as headache, body heat, wheezing and coughing, and can be used in conjunction with the Waiguan, Taiyang acupoints and Fengchi acupoints. In addition, it can also treat psychosomatic diseases such as epilepsy, convulsions, etc., and needs to be combined with Baihui and Si Shencong points. Because of its location in the spinal region this point can also treat low back pain. In conjunction with Lingtai, it can also be used to treat furuncles (sores on the limbs or face that are small in shape with deep roots and are as hard as nails). Acupuncture should be performed by a medical professional.
