What are corns and calluses

The foot is the most weight-bearing tissue of the human body, bearing all the weight of the body, only careful care of our feet, to be able to “a journey of a thousand miles, begins with the foot”. In daily life, many people will find their feet appear skin thickening of small pieces, often accompanied by pain, the problem is not big, but brings problems, sometimes after freezing laser or even surgery still recurring, and even seriously affect our work and life. Here I briefly talk about their etiology clinical manifestations and treatment: first of all, the corpus callosum, in fact, the corpus callosum is what we commonly call “calluses”, it is because of local pressure, friction and other mechanical stimulation caused by the plantar restricted hyperkeratosis, but compared to corns, it is larger, more diffuse, yellowish, translucent, and no central nucleus. It is often caused by ill-fitting shoes or plantar deformities, especially bunions on the foot, and can cause pain after walking. A small portion of the callus will disappear naturally after changing to a proper pair of shoes. In most cases, the soles of the feet need to be softened and treated with a knife or keratolytic medication. Patients with bunions are best treated with minimally invasive surgery, as the bunion callus can only be completely cured if it is corrected. The next point is that people often confuse plantar warts with corns, in the application of corns cream is not effective, the soles of the feet of small hard recurrence or grow more and more, only to go to the hospital. The plantar warts are caused by certain types of human papillomavirus infections and can appear anywhere on the bottom of the foot, sometimes alone, sometimes in clusters, multiple fused together. This means that the actual wart is often called a wart on the foot. After using scissors to remove the hard cuticle, the surface of the wart can be clearly seen as a number of pinpoint-sized black spots. This is due to the rupture of small blood vessels in the dermal papillae. In contrast, after the corns are chipped away from the surface, there is a clear corneal core. It is easy to distinguish between plantar warts and corns by this. The pressure on the plantar warts can also cause pain. The treatment usually involves freezing, wart injections or topical keratolytic medication, and it may take several treatments to ensure that the warts do not recur. The warts can be self-infected or transmitted to others because they are viral. Corns: Corns are limited, keratinized, conical thickenings. The base of the cone is on the surface of the skin of the foot, with the tip facing inward, and compresses sensory nerves, producing pain. Usually appearing in places of friction or pressure, inappropriate shoes, especially the pointed high-heeled leather shoes that have become popular among women in recent years, have greatly increased the incidence of corns. Treatment begins with corrective shoe wear to reduce pressure. In most cases, self-adhesive corns can only remove the bottom of the cone, while the central nucleus and tip of the corns still exist, often not cured. To sum up the corpus callosum plantar warts corns although it is a small disease but clinical pain makes their common features, often poor treatment results, seriously affect work and daily life.
