Is a torn Achilles tendon serious?

Tears of the Achilles tendon are serious and may cause functional impairment of the ankle joint later if not treated in a timely or appropriate manner. If the Achilles tendon is torn, it depends on whether the heel can move or not. If the ankle joint can still move, it is possible that the tendon is not completely torn, and the MRI shows that there is still some continuity, so it can be fixed in a plaster cast. Surgery is usually required to suture the Achilles tendon and take the external fixation method of plaster to brake the tendon.
