The main indicators of liver function are as follows: normal values of glutaminase are 0-40u/L; normal values of glutamic oxalacetic transaminase are 0-40u/L; normal values of direct bilirubin are 0-6.84μmol/L; normal values of indirect bilirubin are 1.71-11.97μmol/L; normal values of total bilirubin are 1.7-17.1μmol/L. Normal values of albumin are 35-55g/L.
The purpose of liver function tests is to detect liver damage and its extent, determine prognosis, and identify the cause of jaundice.
Because of the high compensatory capacity of the liver and the fact that there is no specific, sensitive, or wide-ranging liver function test, even normal liver function cannot exclude liver disease. Especially in the early stages of liver damage, many patients have normal liver function test results, and only when liver damage reaches a certain level do abnormal liver function test results occur. Therefore, liver function test results should be analyzed comprehensively by clinicians in conjunction with clinical manifestations and other factors before determining whether disease exists and whether treatment and monitoring are needed.
