The diagnosis of facial muscle spasm depends on the characteristic clinical manifestations, electrophysiological examination and imaging examination. 1. Characteristic clinical manifestations: involuntary spasm or twitching of facial muscles, mostly on one side or both sides, which may be triggered by emotional excitement, tension and over exertion, and in severe cases, may lead to difficulty in opening eyes and visual impairment. 2. Electrophysiologic examination: including electromyography and abnormal muscle response, electromyography mostly shows high-frequency spontaneous potentials, and a positive abnormal muscle response is helpful to support the diagnosis of facial muscle spasm. 3. Imaging examination: It is recommended to improve the magnetic resonance imaging of the cranial nerve, which is mainly used for etiologic diagnosis, and assists in evaluating whether there are occupying lesions or vascular compression lesions of the facial nerve. It is recommended that patients with symptoms related to facial muscle spasm should consult a doctor in a timely manner to improve relevant examinations and standardized treatment under the guidance of a physician.
