The vast majority of ovarian cysts are physiologic, there are corpus luteum cysts and follicular cysts, and most of these cysts will disappear after 2 months or so. However, chocolate cysts of the ovary are endometriosis, which is pathologic and will not go away. With the prolongation of time chocolate cysts will gradually increase in size, and at the same time, they will also manifest as dysmenorrhea and infertility, so there is a difference between these two kinds of cysts. It is sometimes difficult to differentiate between simple cysts and chocolate cysts of the ovary during ultrasound, but they can basically be differentiated through gynecological examination and the patient’s medical history. Therefore, if an ovarian cyst is seen during the first ultrasound, it can be observed for 2-3 months. If the cyst disappears after 2-3 months, it is physiological and does not need treatment; if it does not disappear, it is pathologic.
