Does a painful urethra always mean a UTI?

Urethral pain is not always caused by inflammation. When inflammation occurs in the urethra, such as urinary tract infection, under the stimulation of pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, mycoplasma, chlamydia and other inflammatory factors, there will be frequent urination, urgency, painful urination and pain in the lower abdomen. Need to go to the hospital to do microbial culture of urine, according to the results of the targeted use of anti-inflammatory or antifungal drugs. However, there are many other causes of urethral pain, such as urinary stones blocking the urethra, which will cause spasmodic pain and need to be removed in time; genital herpes, which is caused by infection with herpes virus, in addition to pain in the urethra, there will also be localized blisters, ulcers, vesicles and so on, and antiviral treatment is needed; vulvar and penile cancers, such as due to the infiltration of cancerous cells, will cause pain in the urethra, and generally need to be carried out surgery or radiotherapy and so on. Radiotherapy is usually needed. These causes of urethral pain are not simply localized inflammation, and anti-inflammatory treatment is usually ineffective.
