What is Polycystic Ovary

In medical terms, polycystic ovaries, known as polycystic ovary syndrome, is a disorder of endocrine disruption and metabolic abnormalities. The cause of polycystic ovary syndrome is complex and is mainly caused by persistent ovulation and high androgens in the blood. Normally, women ovulate alternately on both sides of the ovaries, and during ovulation, a dominant follicle develops and is expelled. In patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, there are multiple small follicles in the ovaries that do not develop dominant follicles, and eventually the follicles will gradually atrophy. The treatment plan for polycystic ovary syndrome varies from person to person and requires comprehensive analysis based on the symptoms and the level of androgens in the body. It is recommended to visit the gynecology department or the Chinese medicine department of a regular hospital for standardized treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
