The baby’s head is about 2.0 cm and the eyes, mouth, hands, feet and brain have started to develop. The shape of a human face can already be seen in the contours of the face. The fetus’ head is relatively large, occupying most of the body length. By the 12th week of pregnancy, the baby has taken on a human form, with fingers and toes separated and significant fetal movement in the uterine cavity. The baby has grown to about 9.0 cm in length. The liver has begun to produce blood and bile, the kidneys have begun to produce urine, and the external genitalia are beginning to develop. The cranial halo can be clearly seen on examination and the biparietal diameter can be measured.
