How severe do cataracts usually have to be before surgery is performed?

Cataract surgery is not complicated, this surgery equipment is relatively advanced and the technology is very mature. Generally, surgery is considered when the patient’s corrected visual acuity is below 0.6, and the specific time of surgery varies from person to person. If the patient is in the early stage of cataract, the cloudiness has a relatively small impact on vision and does not affect daily life, then it can be considered for observation first. If the cataract develops to moderate or severe, and the patient can feel that it significantly affects seeing or daily life, and the corrected visual acuity is less than 0.6, then cataract surgery can be considered at this time. However, if the cataract develops to severe, the patient may have relatively more complications to have surgery at this time. In conclusion, for cataract patients, if the vision decreases to about 0.6, then timely surgery can be considered.
