What’s wrong with dry eyes that can’t be opened?

Dry eyes and inability to open the eyes are related to dry eye syndrome. The main two causes of dry eye syndrome are related to insufficient secretion of eye tears, or poor quality of eye tears. Young people are more likely to have dry eyes and inability to open their eyes due to insufficient secretion of tears. In middle-aged and elderly people, it is mainly due to the poor quality of tears, causing dryness and difficulty in opening the eyes. If there are corneal lesions or chronic conjunctivitis or trachoma, it can also cause dry eyes and even a feeling of straining to open the eyes. This type of problem usually requires an examination to determine the nature of the problem and the appropriate medication to treat it. Chronic conjunctivitis may require antibiotics, and trachoma requires treatment for Chlamydia trachomatis.
