The lateral branch of the adrenal gland is a part of the adrenal gland, which is a tissue above the kidney and is anatomically divided into the body, the medial branch and the lateral branch. The adrenal gland is an organ of the endocrine system and is anatomically located above the kidneys. It is yellowish in color and can be divided into two parts, the adrenal cortex and the adrenal medulla, where the cortex mainly secretes hydrocorticotropic hormones, glucocorticoids, and sex hormones, while the medulla secretes epinephrine and norepinephrine. Anatomically, the adrenal glands can be divided into a body, a medial branch, and a lateral branch, with the medial branch being close to the abdominal blood vessels and the lateral branch being closer to the abdominal wall. The division into medial and lateral branches allows for better and more precise localization of adenomas and other diseases during surgery. Thus the lateral branch of the adrenal gland is part of the adrenal gland.
