How to regulate liver depression and stagnation of qi and damp-heat body type



Liver depression and qi stagnation (poor qi and blood transportation in the liver, emotional depression) with damp-heat constitution can be regulated by taking Chai Hu Shuo Liver Powder with the addition of gentian diarrhea liver soup.

Liver stagnation and Qi stagnation with Damp-Heat syndrome can be manifested as distension and pain in both hypochondriacs, lumps (masses) under the dolphins, or yellowing of the eyes and body, thirst and bitterness of the mouth, and red tongue with yellowish coating.

1. Chai Hu Shu Hepatosan: It has the efficacy of dispersing liver qi, activating blood circulation and relieving pain (relieving pain by removing blood stasis). It is used in treating liver qi stagnation (liver qi not flowing smoothly) syndrome. It is characterized by pain in the ribs, chest tightness, tai yi, depression and irritability, or belching (hiccups), distension and fullness of the epigastrium (abdomen), and a stringy pulse.

2. Longdian Diarrhea Liver Tang: It has the effect of clearing and diarrhea the solid fire of the liver and gallbladder and clearing the damp-heat of the liver meridian (the liver meridian feels the damp-heat evil qi). It is used for symptoms such as headache, eye redness, dystocia and bitterness in the mouth (pain in the area of dystocia and ribs, and bitterness in the mouth), etc.; or dampness-heat infiltration (dampness-heat evils encroaching on the intestinal tract, bladder, pubic area and lower limbs, etc.), symptoms such as swollen and itchy pubic area, drenching of urine and wetting of women’s dampness-heat leucorrhoea.
