What is the value of gestational diabetes that requires insulin

The only medication for blood glucose control during pregnancy is insulin. The specific dose of insulin application or the time of application needs to be determined according to the situation of blood glucose control. For example, if the patient’s blood glucose is significantly elevated, with fasting blood glucose greater than or equal to 6.0 mmol/L or more, and postprandial blood glucose greater than or equal to 8.0 mmol/L or more, insulin is recommended for blood glucose control. In addition, for fasting blood glucose fluctuation between 5.1-6.0mmol/L and postprandial blood glucose control between 6.7-8.0mmol/L, patients can be advised to control diet and exercise first, and if blood glucose can be controlled to the standard, insulin treatment can be temporarily not applied. If the blood glucose cannot be controlled below 5.3mmol/L fasting blood glucose and 6.7mmol/L two hours after meal after diet and exercise control, it is recommended to apply insulin to control blood glucose in order to reduce the occurrence of pregnancy-related complications.
