Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Positive + What is it?

Hepatitis B Surface Antibodies, abbreviated as anti-HBs, is a protective antibody in the human body that is produced by the body’s immune system due to the stimulation of the surface antigen of the Hepatitis B virus, causing the body to produce antibodies that neutralize the Hepatitis B virus. When the laboratory test shows the Hepatitis B Surface Antibody + sign, it means that the Hepatitis B Surface Antibody is positive, which can also be indicated as anti-HBs positive. If only anti-HBs is positive, it indicates successful vaccination against Hepatitis B. In rare cases, it may be a non-specific reaction of the body. If anti-HBs is positive along with anti-HBc and anti-HBe, the explanation is that the body has gained immunity against re-infestation of the hepatitis B virus due to an immune response that clears the hepatitis B virus after infection. Rarely, anti-HBs and HBsAg can be positive at the same time, which may suggest that the body is in antigen-antibody dynamic equilibrium, immunocompromised, unable to clear the hepatitis B virus.
