White spots on baby’s nails are mainly related to malnutrition, trauma and fungal infection. 1. Malnutrition: If babies suffer from malnutrition, or even anemia, their nails will become relatively fragile and soft, easy to break, and may cause white spots after injury. 2. Trauma: If the nails are hit by external collision or extrusion, the nail matrix cells at the root of the nails may be damaged, resulting in white spots on the nails. 3. Fungal infection: commonly known as gray nails, underneath the nails are infested with fungus reproduction, which can cause thickening of baby nails, white spots or even fall off.
