The difference between overweight and obesity is that overweight and obesity have different degrees of excess fat; overweight is defined as a body mass index of 24-28 kg/m², and obesity is a body mass index of ≥28 kg/m², and obesity is more severe than overweight.
Overweight and obesity are both defined as weight exceeding within the normal range, overweight is defined as more than 10% of standard human body weight and obesity is defined as more than 20% of standard human body weight. Overweight is not controlled and further development is obesity. Both overweight and obesity have an impact on health and are risk factors for type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, heart disease, and cerebrovascular disease.
Obese and overweight patients should actively reduce their weight, keep their weight within normal range, control their diet, strictly regulate daily calories, eat more vegetables, fruits and crude fiber foods, and reduce the consumption of high-sugar, high-fat, high-calorie foods; and increase aerobic exercise in moderation, such as jogging and hiking.
Obesity and overweight are both unhealthy states, patients with severe obesity should go to regular hospitals for treatment under the guidance of doctors.
