Regular exercise increases insulin sensitivity, which facilitates blood glucose control, weight loss, and reduction of cardiovascular risk factors. Adult diabetic patients with stable disease control are recommended to have at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week, including brisk walking, tai chi, cycling, table tennis and badminton. The exercise program should be evaluated according to the patient’s age, condition and physical ability to tolerate, and the exercise program should be adjusted in due course. Exercise is not recommended if the patient is in the acute complication stage of diabetes, but can be started after the condition is stabilized and the blood glucose is well controlled. Patients with diabetes are advised not to overdo exercise and are advised to carry sugar cubes with them. If accompanied by panic, chest tightness, sweating and other symptoms of hypoglycemia, it is recommended to eat sugar cubes and terminate exercise.
