It is used in the treatment of blood deficiency and atrophy, vertigo and palpitation, irregular menstruation, menstrual dysfunction, menstrual closure and dysmenorrhea, abdominal pain in deficiency and coldness, paralysis and pain of rheumatism, bruises, carbuncle and gangrene (a kind of venomous sores, which occurs in the surface of the body, the limbs, and the internal organs of the acute suppurative disease), sores, intestinal parchedness, constipation.
The adverse effects of this drug are not clear, and it is contraindicated in people with dampness (too much dampness causing fullness and discomfort in the spleen and stomach) and loose stools.
Both of them are sweet in taste and warm in nature, and are not mutually exclusive in terms of medicinal properties, flavor and effects.
