What are the advantages of laparoscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery?

The treatment of colon and rectal cancer is still mainly based on surgery. Traditional open surgery for colon and rectal cancer has obvious defects, such as large incision, large tissue damage, slow recovery of gastrointestinal function after surgery, and large possibility of adhesional intestinal obstruction. Since the successful development of laparoscopic colorectal tumor resection in the 1990s, the minimally invasive effect and curative advantages of laparoscopic radical colorectal cancer surgery have been recognized by the medical community. Since laparoscopic colorectal surgery is performed under the television monitor to separate the intestinal canal, clear lymph and remove the tumor, it has the following advantages: (1) less interference with abdominal organs; (2) no need to pull the abdominal wall with surgical hooks, so the tissue is lightly traumatized; (3) no need to touch and squeeze the tumor to avoid the risk of tumor metastasis; (4) the laparoscope has a magnifying effect, so that the surgical field is clearer, and the vascular dissection and lymph node clearance are more accurate. (4) laparoscopy has a magnifying effect, which makes the surgical field clearer, vascular dissection and lymph node dissection more accurate, and less surgical bleeding; (5) the emergency reaction after surgery is light, and the immune interference to the body is small. Due to the above reasons, patients have less pain after laparotomy, early bed activity, fast recovery of gastrointestinal function, short hospital stay, less cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications, small and beautiful wounds, less psychological trauma, rapid recovery, and early return to work. Follow-up of large number of cases at home and abroad shows that laparoscopy is also better than traditional surgery in terms of post-surgical complications, tumor recurrence, distant metastasis and five-year survival rate. Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery can be applied to all stages of colon tumors, and its procedures include radical surgery such as right hemicolectomy, transverse colectomy, left hemicolectomy and sigmoid colectomy, and radical resection of rectal cancer. The minimally invasive effect and curative advantages of laparoscopic radical colorectal cancer resection have been confirmed by clinical practice and recognized by doctors and patients.
