Biological indicators and clinical significance of colorectal tumors

Colorectal cancer is one of the common malignant tumors, and its incidence rate is increasing year by year, and there is a trend of youthfulness. At present, colonoscopy has the highest sensitivity and specificity for colorectal cancer examination, but due to the high cost, painfulness and high operational requirements, patients are less willing to undergo this examination, resulting in late detection of tumor in many patients. Through the detection of colorectal cancer tumor markers, it can assist in diagnosis, analysis of disease course, guidance of treatment, monitoring of recurrence or metastasis and prognosis, and finally achieve satisfactory control of tumor. However, no highly sensitive and specific CRC markers have been found yet. Currently, tumor markers are one of the hot spots in the field of life science research. A review of the serum tumor markers for colorectal cancer is presented.
