What to do about purple bruises on toes

Purple bruises on toes may be caused by local trauma, venous thrombosis and other factors, which can be treated by physical therapy, medication and surgery according to the condition.
1. Local trauma: As local trauma can lead to surrounding soft tissue injury or toe bone fracture, purple toe bruise should be rested immediately, elevate the affected foot, and apply cold compresses within 72 hours to reduce bleeding, and if necessary, cast or brace can be given to immobilize the toe.
2. Venous thrombosis: Due to the obstruction of local blood reflux in the toe, thrombosis of toe artery and toe vein, especially venous thrombosis, is most common, resulting in purple bruising of the toe. Anticoagulants such as heparin, warfarin and urokinase can be used, or intervention for thrombolysis.
Purple toe bruises may have other causes, it is recommended that the patient timely hospital consultation, clear cause of the targeted treatment, the above medication should be used under the guidance of a physician, to avoid blindly use their own medication.
