Is total cholesterol 7.2 serious?

A total cholesterol of 7.2 mmol/L is considered hypercholesterolemia, at which point the patient needs to be actively controlled to avoid further aggravation. Elevated total cholesterol is related to the patient’s individual constitution. If the patient has a high cholesterol level due to genetic factors, it is difficult to achieve a satisfactory treatment effect through dietary modification. Therefore, for patients with elevated total cholesterol due to genetics, medications such as statins are often recommended, which can also prevent cardiovascular diseases. Elevated total cholesterol levels can also be related to the level of their hormones, such as in patients entering menopause, which may trigger hypercholesterolemia due to unstable hormone levels during this period. The level of total cholesterol is more related to the patient’s dietary habits and obesity. If the patient likes to eat fatty and thick foods, it can lead to elevated cholesterol. Patients are advised to control the intake of foods containing high cholesterol, and common foods containing high cholesterol include animal offal, squid, animal fat, etc. Patients are advised to consume more fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as use healthy fats and oils, such as vegetable oils.
