Tinnitus refers to the subjective sensation of a sound in the ear or head, but no corresponding sound source exists outside. Tinnitus is one of the common clinical symptoms in otology. Tinnitus increases with age. Seventeen percent of the general population has varying degrees of tinnitus, and the incidence of tinnitus in the elderly can be as high as 33%. Causes of tinnitus: Many patients with tinnitus often have no obvious cause. Possible causes include: 1. Disease-related tinnitus, such as abnormal thyroid function, diabetes mellitus, cervical spondylosis, multiple sclerosis, iodine or zinc deficiency, anemia, migraine, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and autoimmune diseases. 2) Psychosomatic diseases: 1) Phantom hearing: Tinnitus is language-like, such as hearing the sound of being blamed or scolded, which is a symptom of psychosis and should be treated as psychosis. 2) Auditory image: The most common auditory image of tinnitus caused by psychological reasons is the sound of music or singing, which may be the usual tinnitus sound but is imagined to be converted into a pleasant musical sound. It may also be a mild psychosis or psychosis with tinnitus. However, if it affects work, study, and life, it should be treated appropriately. 3.Nervous tinnitus without any etiology.
