Scarring is the most serious complication of acne. There are 2 types of scars: a proliferative scar that protrudes from the surface of normal skin, and an atrophic scar that is depressed compared to normal skin. Classical treatments include surgery, injections, chemical peels, lasers, etc. Gold microneedle, or fractional microneedle radiofrequency (FMR), is a recent new technology for the treatment of acne scars, characterized by stable efficacy, high safety and short recovery period. INTRAcel Gold Microneedle uses a 49-needle microneedle treatment head with a needle length of 0.5~2.0mm, except for the end of the needle which is 0.3mm, all other parts are insulated and the radio frequency is shot from the end of the needle. This ensures that the deeper skin layers are treated and the dermis is remodeled without damaging the epidermis. One study performed 2 sessions of gold microneedling on 20 patients, with 35 days between treatments. The results 2 months after treatment showed that all patients showed significant improvement in acne scars, 87% of patients had only minor acne scars remaining, and 72% of patients considered the results to be significant. Only minor complications occurred after treatment, such as a red rash that may last 1 to 3 days; 60% of patients developed edema that lasted roughly a few hours to a day. Another study that included 30 people showed that 85% of patients felt that treatment had significantly improved at 6 months after receiving 3 treatments, and 31% of these patients felt that their acne had improved by more than 70%. Post-treatment care: 1. Apply ointment thinly for 3 days to prevent infection and use epidermal growth factor to promote repair; 2. Apply a mask once a night for 15 minutes each time; 3. Pay attention to sun protection (sunscreen can be used normally from the 2nd day after treatment).
