The Most Effective Acupuncture Points for Migraines

There is no basis for the claim that migraine is the most effective acupuncture point. Migraine treatment points need to be selected based on evidence, and can be divided into wind attacking the meridians and channels (Baihui), liver and yang hyper-reversal (Fengchi), and qi and blood insufficiency (Ashigarbazili). 1. Wind attacking the meridians: the symptoms of paroxysmal pain and pain in a fixed place can be seen during the onset of the headache. Acupuncture points are divided according to the location of the headache. In the top of the head, Baihui and Tongtian can be taken, in the front of the head, Shangxing and Touwei, and in the back of the head, Houtian and Tianzhu can be taken. 2. Liver-Yang hyper-reversal: headache and dizziness, as well as obvious pain in the side of the head, as well as symptoms such as heartburn and anger, and face redness and mouth bitterness. Acupuncture points such as Fengchi, Baihui and Cranium can be used. 3. Qi and blood insufficiency: symptoms such as lingering pain and dizziness, as well as fatigue and weakness can be seen. Acupuncture points such as Baihui, Liver Yu and Foot Sanli can be used. There are other types of migraine, which need to be guided by TCM doctors; if external treatment is needed, it should be operated by doctors and not by oneself to avoid adverse consequences.
