The disorder considered for a feeling of something pressing on the top of the head is a tension-type headache. Tension-type headaches occur most often in young people, with a peak age of onset around 30 years old. It manifests as bilateral discomfort in the head, such as a feeling of pressure and tightness in the posterior occipital region, or around the temples bilaterally, or at the top of the head, and some patients describe it as a feeling of wearing a tight band, or a hat. Anger, fire, stress, irregular diet, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and work stress can all lead to aggravation, and are all triggering factors for the disease. Physical therapy, such as acupuncture and physiotherapy, can be considered for treatment. Regular combing of the scalp with a wooden comb will also reduce the discomfort.
