Is cerebral arteriovenous malformation serious?

Cerebral arteriovenous malformation is a highly heterogeneous disease, meaning that it varies greatly from patient to patient. The most serious consequence of a cerebral arteriovenous malformation is cerebral hemorrhage, with an annual hemorrhage rate of approximately 1% in unruptured cerebral arteriovenous malformations and a significantly higher rate of 4.8% in ruptured cerebral arteriovenous malformations.
