The upper gums belong to which meridian circulation area

The upper gums are part of the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian. The Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian starts at the side of the nose, travels upward to the root of the nose, then downward along the outside of the nose, enters the upper gums, returns to encircle the lips and mouth, enters the lower lip and intersects the Chengjian point, then backward along the jawbone, traveling to the Daying point, upward to the ear, and then along the hairline to the cranial region. It then branches off and travels downward, finally reaching the lateral side of the 2nd toe. The points on the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian can be used to treat spleen, stomach and intestinal disorders such as stomach pain; headaches and other disorders of the head, face and the five senses; delirium and other delirious disorders; fevers; and disorders of the meridian’s circulation areas. For conditions of the upper gums, acupoints such as Chengjian, Yingxiang, and Zyongshen can be used. Acupuncture needs to be operated by a specialized doctor, not by oneself to avoid risks. If lesions of the upper gums occur, the clinician should be consulted to determine the treatment plan.
