A woman who has not had a normal period can usually determine if she is pregnant by both a urine test and a blood draw after 10-15 days of intercourse. A woman who has had an ovulatory cycle and has not had a period can usually have elevated HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, in her blood and urine in 10-15 days, and can determine if she is pregnant by both urine test strips and blood draws. If a woman has her period on the 15th, the end of the month should be a normal time to ovulate. If there is sexual intercourse at the end of the month, in order to determine if pregnancy is definite, it will not be until the middle of the next month, around the 15th of the following month. If you still haven’t had your period, you can have a urine and blood test to determine if you are pregnant in about 7-10 days to be on the safe side. There are blood tests and urine test strips that can be used to detect pregnancy. It is recommended that women who are preparing for pregnancy should try to reduce the use of cell phones and computer radiation during the preparation period, and take folic acid tablets until the second trimester to prevent fetal neural tube abnormalities.
