At present, myopic laser surgery technology is more mature and safer, but there are still complications that may jeopardize the health of the eyes, such as corneal infection, myopic regression, dry eye, secondary glaucoma, secondary cone cornea, etc. The main causes of corneal infection are disinfection during the surgery or patients’ attention to eye hygiene after the surgery. Corneal infections are mainly caused by the lack of sterilization during the surgery or the patient’s lack of attention to eye hygiene after the surgery, and the patient may experience conjunctival congestion, eye pain, photophobia and other uncomfortable symptoms. Nearsightedness regression is mainly caused by the patient’s high myopia before the operation, the thinness of the cornea remaining after the operation, and the patient’s lack of attention to eye hygiene after the operation. Dry eye is caused by cutting off part of the corneal sensory nerve fibers during surgery, which causes a decrease in reflex tear secretion, and the patient may experience dry eyes, foreign body sensation and other uncomfortable symptoms. Secondary glaucoma is mostly related to the prolonged use of hormone medication after surgery, while secondary conical cornea is related to the thin cornea of the patient, which is unable to tolerate the pressure inside the eyeball, resulting in corneal bulging. It is recommended that patients follow the doctor’s instructions for post-laser myopia care, have regular checkups, and seek prompt medical attention when discomfort occurs.
