What happens when your head is hit by a basketball?

When the head is hit by a basketball, the degree of injury is relatively mild, and most patients show symptoms of concussion, with the possibility of a brief impairment of consciousness immediately at the time of the injury, often for a few seconds or minutes, which usually resolves within half an hour. Some patients cannot recall the situation at the time of injury, which is called retrograde amnesia. A small number of patients may experience headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, tinnitus, insomnia, and irritability. However, there are no abnormal findings on various imaging examinations, and most patients’ symptoms can be relieved within two weeks, with rest being the main focus for those with more pronounced symptoms.
