Does meniscus damage get worse?

Patients with meniscus injuries will gradually worsen if they do not get timely rest and proper, active treatment. Older people have very poor meniscus flexibility, if they do not actively treat meniscus injuries, the symptoms will gradually worsen as the condition progresses, even causing meniscus tears. The squatting or semi-squatting posture will cause the meniscus to be repeatedly straightened or flexed during work and life, and knee valgus or rotation will cause the meniscus to be repeatedly rubbed, gradually aggravating the meniscus injury. Once a meniscus injury occurs, it should be actively treated with manipulation, fixation, and topical ointments to promote blood circulation and reduce swelling and pain. If the symptoms are not relieved by long-term conservative treatment, surgery can be performed if surgery is indicated.
