What level of surgery is heel fracture surgery?

Achilles fracture surgery is a tertiary procedure. A calcaneal fracture is a common type of foot fracture, as the calcaneus is an irregular bone that involves the subtalar and calcaneal joints, which are two important weight-bearing joints in the foot. Fractures of the heel bone are common in fall injuries. When a person falls from a height, the heel will be used to bear the weight of the body, and when it exceeds the capacity of the heel bone, a fracture of the heel bone will occur. Once the joint surface is broken, the joint surface is uneven, or the heel bone collapses and deforms and is unable to maintain the arch of the foot, surgical treatment is required. The main purpose of the surgery is to restore the articular surface and the height and width of the heel bone. Meanwhile, due to the obvious compression of the irregular bone, a large amount of cancellous bone in the heel bone body is compressed and a bone defect occurs, and depending on the condition of the bone defect, it may need to be implanted and filled with internal fixation in order to restore the bone defect. Therefore, it is a difficult fracture surgery, and the surgery is divided into four levels, and the heel bone fracture surgery belongs to the third level.
