What should I do if I get iron slag in my eye?

The first thing you should do is to go to the hospital for a thorough examination to determine the location of the foreign body, and then treat the symptoms according to the condition.
If the iron slag is located in the inner part of the eyeball, this situation is more critical, the patient needs early surgery to remove the foreign body in the eye, to avoid the formation of intraocular infection.
If the iron slag is located on the surface of the eyeball, such as the conjunctival sac foreign body, such as this case is relatively mild, the patient can use a sterile wet swab to wipe out the foreign body, or the conjunctival sac for irrigation. For corneal foreign bodies patients can wipe with a wet cotton swab after surface anesthesia, or use a sterile hypodermic needle or remove iron slag by microsurgery.
Avoid wiping the eye with your hands or over-exerting the eye when you have an iron slag in the eye. Monitor your condition and seek medical attention if you experience discomfort.
