Why cataract surgery requires IOL implantation

The human eye is actually like a camera, and the lens is equivalent to the lens. When the lens becomes cloudy, the vision will be affected, which we call cataract. The ultimate treatment for cataracts is still surgery, and the surgical technique has been developed quite mature.

The surgery is generally divided into two parts. One is to remove the clouded cataract, which is usually done by ultrasound emulsification. The second is to implant an artificial lens in the eye. Because a camera cannot operate without a lens, a human eye without a lens will be highly farsighted, which seriously affects visual function, so after removing the cataract the surgeon will implant an artificial lens in the eye to improve visual quality.
