Blood pressure of 145/90mmHg is not normal. The current definition of hypertension in China is a blood pressure greater than 140/90mmHg measured in a quiet state, 145/90mmHg has reached the definition of hypertension. Patients are advised to clarify the cause, which generally belongs to primary hypertension, many of which are due to poor lifestyle habits, ageing, etc., leading to an increase in blood pressure. The current blood pressure belongs to primary hypertension, which is not particularly high, and can be lowered by therapeutic lifestyle interventions, such as relaxing, not overstressing, controlling weight, losing weight, while adhering to regular exercise, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, eating with less salt and oil, and having a daily sodium intake of less than 5 g. If after the above lifestyle interventions the blood pressure still cannot be lowered to 140/ 90 mmHg or less, oral antihypertensive drugs such as nifedipine and irbesartan are recommended.
