After the onset of ankylosing spondylitis, if the blood sedimentation rate is normal but the pain is still felt, it is mainly due to the chronic inflammatory changes in the joint tissues. Ankylosing spondylitis is an autoimmune disease with a relatively long disease course. After the onset of the disease, chronic inflammatory changes such as hyperplasia and sclerosis may occur in the connective tissues of the joints throughout the body, and if the blood sedimentation rate is found to be normal, it may be that the disease has passed the acute stage of its development but the chronic inflammation within the body has not subsided, and therefore pain symptoms may still occur. Patients with ankylosing spondylitis who have normal blood sedimentation but still have pain symptoms need to exercise appropriately, and if necessary, they can also take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac sodium to relieve the pain as prescribed by the doctor. Ankylosing spondylitis patients are advised to go to the rheumatology and immunology department of regular hospitals and follow the doctor’s instructions, do not self-medication.
