Docetaxel is an anti-tumor chemotherapy drug commonly used in clinical practice, which is widely used in breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, head and neck cancer, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, etc. In clinical application, the doctor will first calculate the body surface area according to the patient’s height and weight, and then calculate the dose according to the body surface area. 60-100mg/m^2 is generally used, and the dose will be administered as an IV for 1 hour and repeated every 3 weeks, which may take 4-6 cycles according to the need of the disease. Weekly therapy is also available, and the general usage is 35-45mg/m^2 per week for 6 weeks. One particular adverse effect of this drug is water and sodium retention and allergic reactions, so to prevent fluid retention and allergy, oral corticosteroids, such as dexamethasone 8mg every 12 hours for 3 days, are usually required the day before docetaxel is administered.
