Taichong acupoint is located on the dorsal side of the foot, in the depression in front of the union of the first and second metatarsal bones. Taichong is one of the commonly used acupoints of the foot syncopal liver meridian, which has the effects of calming the liver and restraining wind, relieving pain, clearing heat and inducing dampness (removing heat and dampness from the body). Taichong acupoint can be used for stroke, pediatric convulsions (pediatric diseases mainly manifested by dizziness, apoplexy, and convulsions), headache, vertigo, eye redness, swelling and pain, tinnitus, mouth crookedness, and sore throat; jaundice, coercive-rib distension and pain, abdominal distension and other liver and stomach diseases; menstrual irregularities, menstrual cramps, and disintegration (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling) and other gynecological diseases; and proximity therapy can treat swelling and pain of the back of the foot and impotence palsy of the lower extremities (lower extremity weakness, numbness, and pain), and so on. It should be noted that the treatment of the corresponding diseases should be carried out under the operation of specialized physicians.
