Baby plantar blood failure should be alert to congenital hypothyroidism, phenylketonuria, should pay attention to the doctor for review, clear disease and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
The baby plantar blood failure should pay attention to review, if the review has problems should be considered congenital diseases, according to the different situations to give treatment.
1. Congenital hypothyroidism: If the baby’s plantar blood failure is diagnosed to be caused by congenital hypothyroidism, it can be treated with levothyroxine, thyroid tablets and other medications as prescribed by the doctor. Since the disease is difficult to cure, lifelong medication is needed. If the baby actively cooperates with the doctor, the intellectual and physical development of the baby is usually the same as that of a normal child.
2. Phenylketonuria: If it is clear that phenylketonuria is the cause of plantar blood failure, treatment should be given as soon as possible. For newborn babies, breastfeeding should be preferred because of the low content of phenylalanine in breast milk. Larger babies can be added to complementary foods such as milk and porridge, which should be low in protein and phenylalanine. For those who are not satisfied with dietary therapy, tetrahydrobiopterin can be used.
When restricting the phenylalanine diet, long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and large molecule neutral amino acids can also be used as prescribed by the doctor, in order to prevent essential fatty acid deficiency and reduce the damage to the brain.
When the baby’s plantar blood fails, further detailed examination should be done for early detection, diagnosis and treatment, and attention should also be paid to regular medical review in order to monitor the physical condition.
