Probability of disappearance of fetal subventricular cysts

The majority of fetal subventricular cysts are self-healing, with more than 95% of pediatric subventricular cysts disappearing within a year of birth.
The exact time of disappearance is related to the size of the cyst. Cysts that do not disappear need to be examined for developmental neurologic effects before treatment.
Fetal subventricular cysts are a self-limiting condition with no significant clinical symptoms. In most patients, they slowly decrease in size after birth until they disappear completely.
Available studies show that cysts less than 9 mm will disappear in about one month, while larger cysts will disappear after 3 months, and more than 95% of cysts disappear within one year.
Those that have not disappeared for more than one year are pathologic cysts and need to be examined in the hospital. Pathologic cysts that do not affect growth and development or neurological function do not require treatment, but if they do affect growth and development or the nervous system, the patient needs to undergo surgical or pharmacologic treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
If a fetal subventricular cyst is found, it is recommended to go to the relevant hospital for further examination of the fetus and take countermeasures under the guidance of the doctor.
