If you get chili oil in your eyes, flush them immediately with plenty of water, flip your eyelids and turn your eyeballs to flush them as thoroughly as possible. If you still have eye discomfort after rinsing, you should promptly visit a regular eye care provider for appropriate examination and rinsing again. If the burning is only of the conjunctiva, non-steroidal eye drops, such as pralophine drops, can be given. If there is damage to the corneal epithelium, medications to prevent infection, such as levofloxacin eye drops, and medications to promote corneal epithelial repair, such as recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor eye drops, and oxyfloxacin eye ointment are given to coat the eye. Hospitalization is usually not required and is reviewed at the outpatient ophthalmology clinic on the second day.
