Urine sediment test precautions

The most important point to note in urine sediment examination is that, after obtaining urine, send it for examination quickly and do not leave it for too long. After the urine has been left for a period of time, it can lead to changes in the cells in the urine, resulting in rupture of the cells or changes in their properties, leading to abnormal results in the final tubular examination and cell examination, which can affect the determination of the final results. Urine sediment examination is mainly a method of separating tangible substances in urine by means of centrifugation and then testing them. There can be cells, tubulars, bacteria, spermatozoa, crystals, etc. in urine sediment. The lesions and the severity of the disease are largely determined by microscopic observation. The red blood cell and white blood cell tests, which mainly indicate whether the urine contains blood components and inflammation or infection, are generally normal with <3 red blood cells/high magnification field and <5 white blood cells/high magnification field. The tubular type item mainly depends on the severity of kidney damage and is broadly divided into: narrow, medium width, and wide. In conclusion, when doing urine sedimentation test, it is important to send urine in time to avoid long time and affect the test results.
