The initial age of measles vaccination in China is 8 months. Measles is an acute rash infectious disease caused by measles virus, with clinical manifestations such as fever, measles mucosal spots, rash, conjunctivitis, and inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. The use of safe and effective live attenuated measles vaccine can improve the level of specific immunity in children and is the main measure to prevent measles. In China, the age of initial vaccination against measles is set at 8 months of age, and antibodies are usually produced after 12 days of measles vaccination. If antibodies cannot be detected in some children after vaccination, another vaccination is usually recommended at the age of 1.5-2 years in order to avoid failure of initial vaccination. For those who have not been vaccinated against measles and have had contact with measles patients, and for those who are not suitable for vaccination, gammaglobulin may be an option. However, because of its relatively short duration of immunity, measles vaccination is mandatory for people over 8 months of age who have no contraindications.
