Herpes pharyngitis is mainly caused by coxsackie group A virus. The incubation period is 4 days, and the onset of the disease is acute, with sudden high fever, sore throat, and swallowing, accompanied by loss of appetite, fatigue, vomiting, abdominal pain, and headache. On examination, a scattered gray-white herpes, 1 to 2 mm in size and surrounded by a red halo, can be seen in the congested pharynx, soft palate, lips, etc. After 2 days, the herpes increases to 4 to 5 mm and forms an ulcer. Fever usually lasts 2-3 days, and the herpes may last 4-6 days before returning to normal.
