After 3-4 days of conventional appendicitis surgery, the patient can be discharged from the hospital when the abdominal pain is relieved and there is no fever or diarrhea. Nowadays, most appendicitis surgeries are minimally invasive, that is, laparoscopic appendectomy, which routinely has only 3 perforated holes in the abdomen, with light pain and fast recovery, plus continued treatment with antibiotics after the surgery, usually the patient still recovers very well. However, in case of gangrenous appendicitis or perforated appendicitis, the inflammation in the abdominal cavity is heavier, with more exudation and even sometimes residual infection, accompanied by fever and diarrhea, it is necessary to continue antibiotics, and the hospital stay may be prolonged. In other patients, after surgery, the incision may be painful and may become infected, which may also prolong the hospital stay.
