How long does it take to desensitize a child’s egg allergy

Symptomatic relief of egg allergy in children is usually 2 to 3 days, while there is no exact time for desensitization. Food avoidance is the main treatment for egg allergy in children, and symptoms resolve within 48 to 72 hours after removal of eggs from the mother’s and child’s food. There is no exact time for desensitization as the child grows older and his/her gastrointestinal tract matures, or as an immune tolerance develops after avoiding eggs for a long period of time, and the allergy symptoms resolve with age. The ultimate goal of food allergy treatment is to establish a sustained oral tolerance so that re-exposure to the allergen will not cause allergic symptoms even after a long period of non-exposure. This can be achieved by giving the child a small amount of egg intake, reaching a certain dose and then not increasing it, and giving it regularly, inducing the child to develop tolerance. At present, this method is still in the experimental treatment stage, and there is no exact clinical data on the time of desensitization. Egg allergy in children with severe nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, drowsiness and other manifestations need to be under the guidance of a medical professional anti-allergy treatment, otherwise there is a risk of life-threatening.
